Adventure into the exotic world of Nid’Otruche, a family-run business, for a special and unusual meeting with the fastest land bird in the world, the ostrich. Just a few wing beats from Montréal, in the Laurentides region, take part in an African-style safari on one of the biggest farms in Canada, a wonderful experience for the whole family.
"Beak to beak” with a troop of ostriches
Meet these majestic birds during a safari that starts at the ostrich interpretation centre with a visit to the baby ostriches in the hatchery. The whole family will ooh and aah. The adventure continues halfway between the African savannah and Jurassic Park, on dirt trails through enchanted wooded areas. You’ll find yourself beak to beak with a troop of ostriches that you may even be able to touch. The visit also includes tastings of ostrich meat. Yum-yum!
Along the way, your family will get to meet Jonquille, Rouge-Gorge and Clémentine, and discover the secrets of three species of ostrich: the black, the blue, and the red. For example, did you know that an ostrich can kill a lion with one kick? Hard to believe, but true.
Something for the whole family
Families can visit the Nid’Otruche site rain or shine as lunch can be eaten indoors. A children’s play area, a mini-farm, swings, slides, ponies, goats, rabbits, and their famous peacock await your family’s imagination to come to life.

This shop is full of little treasures: works of art on eggs, sculptures, masks, and feather necklaces made on site. You will also find a vast selection of oils and soaps made from ostrich oil that are good for you. We strongly suggest that you bring a cooler with you to take home some ostrich meat for family meals that will remind you of your super safari at Nid’Otruche.
