Chants de Vielles
Chants de Vielles (Hurdy-Gurdy Songs) will be taking place just south of Montréal. Every second weekend of September for the past eight years, this festival unfolds like a dream over the countryside of Calixa-Lavallée, a small town in the Montérégie region. It's a vision of the present and future seen through songs, music and traditional dance. A place where creativity and open-mindedness take root. Various music communities from around Quebec, Canada and Europe will be participating this year, represented by 45 world-renowned artists: a rare and exceptional privilege. All in all, 45 workshops and concerts, primarily featuring string instruments and hurdy-gurdys. Weekend highlights include an evening of singing, evening in the barn, parade of singers, musicians, dancers, and passer-bys, and the grand church concert. There will also be craftspeople and instrument makers, youth activities, hiking and dance activities, and fine things to eat and drink. Fun for all ages!
