Discover a gold mine at La Cité de l’Or! Located in Val-d’Or in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada, the Ancienne-Mine-Lamaque historic site is an interpretation centre. Become a miner for a day and enjoy a unique experience in a real mine as you go 91 metres (300 feet) underground. In addition to this underground experience, you can visit the ground facilities, included the analysis laboratory, where you take part in an introduction to ore processing. Come discover history with the new exhibition “De l’Or plein les veines.” Explore the historic site of the Bourlamaque Mining Village with its log homes that are still inhabited and visit the historic house. With the audioguided tour, you can explore this village with a living past and learn a bit more about its history.
