Cosmodome

I will begin my article with a warning of the utmost importance: after having visited the new Cosmodome in Laval, it is possible that you will experience an urge to apply for a job at NASA, watch the series Dans une galaxie près de chez vous over and over and/or subscribe to Sky & Telescope. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Now, let’s dive into a well-designed universe that’s interactive and, most importantly, all new.
Your Mission Should You Choose to Accept It
The Outer Limits of the Cosmos is one of three possible missions. How I felt waiting on the clever boarding platforms: excited. Interactive bracelet around my wrist, not a module would escape me. Team name and badge selected, my friend Jo-Ann and I were ready to take on the circuit with its way cool spatial look. Everything else went by so quickly, I dare say… at the speed of light.

We built our own probe and sent it into orbit around Jupiter, gathering data of the utmost importance for the future of science. Mission accomplished! Along the way, we learned a lot and especially enjoyed the quality video clips and sound, the great selection of scenarios, the engaging environment and judicious use of interactive technology. No way will you be bored with this new “choose your own adventure” concept, whether you’re young or old enough to have seen man walk on the Moon in 1969.
Mars, Venus, Earth and the Rest
When I exited the last cockpit, my new thirst for astronomical knowledge was quenched by the renewed permanent exhibition, which I found both interesting and easy to understand. In short, I felt like it spoke to me in my own language, making the solar system something more than “My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets,” the often cited mnemonic device once used to help people remember the order of planets from the Sun out. I know; I have a lot to learn.
In the end, I do plan on going back to maximise the use of my index on the touch screens for the two other missions offered at the Cosmodome: The Impossible Dream and Red Planet.
Until then, can somebody lend me Dans une galaxie près de chez vous?
