After the frenzy of the holidays, the call of crisp snow and fresh air is hard to ignore. Cloaked in sparkling white, the Eastern Townships welcome outdoor enthusiasts to explore its mountains, trails and national parks. Whether you’re a seasoned sportsman or just interested in a new winter experience, don’t miss your chance to jump into an enchanting winter playground!

Slopes at the ready!

Hitting the snow-covered slopes is a winter must. In the Townships, there are many to choose from, with four major ski centres located in the region. Choose Owl’s Head for the incredible views of Lake Memphrémagog; Bromont for its lit-up slopes at night; Mont SUTTON for its glades for all levels of skiers; or Mont Orford for its peak – the highest in the region. Do your little ones want their first crack at the sport? Mont Bellevue in Sherbrooke and Station touristique Baie-des-Sable in Lac-Mégantic are other options families will love!

Explore the provincial and regional parks

If your sport is snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, the four provincial and regional parks in the Eastern Townships can’t be beat. Take your family or invite a group of friends, and admire the breathtaking scenery as you roam the trails at your own pace. No need to worry about running out of trails: in the Townships you’ll find more than 1,000 km (621 mi.) to explore!

Make the most of winter and seize the opportunity to take up a new activity. Many of the region’s parks and outdoor centres have trails for fatbikes, bikes designed for winter conditions and ideal for visitors who dream of cycling all year long. If a quiet getaway is more your cup of tea, discover the unique experience of ice fishing on a frozen lake!
