The
Festival International de Jazz de Montréal is now recognized as the world’s largest jazz festival and the focal meeting point for the jazz planet. With more than 350 free outdoor concerts and 180 indoor concerts, it attracts over 2 million festival-goers each year. This gigantic summer celebration of music takes place over a 10-day period, from noon to midnight, in the heart of downtown Montréal, in an immense quadrangle closed to automobile traffic. Within this space, a festive, peaceful, safe site is created complete with public entertainers, refreshment stands, souvenir boutiques, an art gallery, activities, and a musical park for children. The Festival is a cultural change of scene, a place for happy musical discoveries in shades of jazz, blues, Latin jazz, Brazilian, Cuban, African, reggae, contemporary, electronic, and more. At the
