For those looking to explore Quebec cultural identity, Festival La Virée in Carleton-sur-Mer will certainly meet expectations. Since 2001, Festival La Virée has been highlighting and sharing cultural practices inspired by Quebec traditions with professional storytelling shows, music, song and traditional dance, the largest public market in Gaspésie with over 40 Gaspésie artisans and producers, workshops, entertainment for children, an exhibition, a Vieux-Métiers tent, heritage visits and an outdoor stage. All this in a most colourful fall setting, between mountain and sea! Festival La Virée is a friendly, accessible event that brings people together. Of the thirty-some activities offered, two-thirds are free, and there is no admission cost to enter the festival site.
