On the Îles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands), the festival season extends from spring until fall. It begins with a gourmet festival with flavours from the sea and ends with short films. In between, festivities highlight products and subjects as varied as lobster, tales, figurative arts, terroir products, contemporary art and water sports. Some activities are adapted for families, like the treasure hunt on Havre aux Maisons Island; others are a celebration of the Islanders’ Acadian roots. La Grave Historic Site alone is the host to three events, including a sea and marine fest in September. The Municipalité des Îles, with its leisure, culture and community department, is associated with a great majority of these popular gatherings, which delight Islanders and their many visitors.
