Summer is the season of a thousand and one delights in the Eastern Townships, and it brings along a host of new things. As you travel through the Eastern Townships, the roads will take you towards new experiences and gourmet delights, a few of which are suggested below.
A visit to the South Pacific
The Granby Zoo would like to suggest an impressive expedition to the South Pacific, thanks to its new pavilion that will be inaugurated on June 18, 2011. Visitors will explore this part of the world and will be able to see jellyfish, sea horses, sharks, coral, and mangrove swamps. There will also be a large pool where visitors can feed the rays. To complete the visit, don’t miss the show that will plunge you into the heart of the ocean, using special projections and effects.

Something else new for you to discover this summer: a cruise on board the Grand Cru! Starting in mid-June, this majestic 170-seat boat will take you along Lake Memphrémagog for a gastronomic cruise. During this three-hour excursion, you will be impressed by the beautiful scenery, the delicious food, and the elegant boat. Whether you go for brunch, lunch, the offshore "4 to 6", or supper, you will be enchanted from the start to the finish of your little getaway.
Fall in love with Township cheeses!
Continue your gastronomic experience with Township cheeses. Located in an enchanting environment, the Fromagerie de l’Abbaye de St-Benoît-du-Lac is the only cheese factory in North America run by Benedictine monks. Its most famous cheese is without doubt the Ermite, created in 1943.
The Fromagerie La Station, located in Compton, welcomes you in the heart of Township country. This family company offers farm cheeses made of raw milk from cows raised in an organic farming environment.
Finally, the Fromagerie des Cantons located in Farnham, at the gateway to the Townships, promotes responsible agriculture and offers very high quality cheeses made from ecological raw milk.
