Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier has always charmed in summer; imagine it with its winter white coat on! Located just 30 minutes from downtown Québec, this year it is offering you many new ways to enjoy a great nature site! In particular, you will find many new guided discovery activities, sure to pique your curiosity and increase your knowledge of the natural world.

Something New Awaits You

The Discovery and Visitors Centre, completely renovated last summer, is now open until mid-March because its access road will be ploughed regularly, making it easier to get around. In addition to welcome services, you will find a convenience store, as well as a nature boutique. What’s more, you can familiarise yourself with the brand-new Park Path Explorer to discover the park’s secrets in a new way.

To have fun, free tube sledding is offered near the Discovery Centre, which is also the place where your adventure can begin. Indeed, you can explore eight new snowshoe trails, never before used in winter.

A Cosy Night at the Heart of the Forest!

Something else new this year: the way to chalet accommodations and rustic campground sites will be ploughed so you can drive there. For those a tad more adventurous, it is also possible to enjoy winter camping in a tent.

More courageous individuals can treat themselves to a longer three-day outing of backcountry skiing. The Voie du bûcheron is a practically virgin trail where you can include nights at a rustic shelter. The adventure begins at Camp Mercier, in the Réserve faunique des Laurentides, and will take you to a rustic shelter in the valley where you can spend a night at the very heart of the forest. Then, another 10-kilometre (6-mile) outing in the valley will bring you to yet another rustic shelter for your second night’s stay. Finally, the last part of the trip will bring you back to your point of departure via the Rivière-à-l’Épaule trail, a steadily climbing 16-kilometre (10-mile) trail.
