Beauharnois Generating Station (Hydro-Québec)

Stop by for a tour of the Beauharnois Generating Station, one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world. It's just 40 km (25 mi) southwest of Montréal. Come recharge your batteries while visiting this monument to human ingenuity, especially astounding when you consider that the Beauharnois Canal was built more than 75 years ago! You'll also be delighted by the station’s award-winning Art Deco architecture and 38 generating units that stretch over nearly a kilometre. It's no wonder the power plant is one of Quebec's outstanding heritage buildings. Finally, the station's rooftop deck offers a superb view of Lake Saint-Louis and Montréal in the distance.
