Explore Montréal’s history in style and visit the first building in Quebec to be classified a historic monument. Built in the 18th century under the French regime, Château Ramezay is one of the few vestiges left from that time that is still open to visitors. Relive more than 500 years of history at the Château, from the pre-contact Amerindian era to the 20th century. A not-to-be-missed site in Old Montréal, Château Ramezay welcomes you to discover its collections, displayed in numerous exhibits, with multimedia portrayals of historical figures who recount, in six languages, highlights of their lives at the Château. Also visit the sumptuous Governor's Garden, a typical example of an urban 18th-century New France garden. Multilingual sound panels guide visitors through the kitchen garden, orchard and flower garden. Access and activities held in the Governor’s Garden are free year round. Also stop at the boutique and the courtyard café overlooking the garden.
