Dinner One-on-One in Old Terrebonne

Le Folichon
I discovered Old Terrebonne a few years ago and it was quite surprising! Despite living in the Montréal region, I had never visited this small, quadrilateral district alongside the Mille Îles River, which looks a bit like those old New France districts with their winding streets, narrow sidewalks and old buildings. With Saint Valentine’s Day on its way, I would like to share a few of the restaurants that I discovered and found particularly charming!

Le Folichon Restaurant

This restaurant is such a great place. It is located in an old white house and the interior design has brilliantly kept its friendly charm thanks to woodwork, stone walls and a large central staircase. The generous table-d’hôte meal from Le Folichon counts five courses, with a wide variety of French- and Mediterranean-flavoured dishes. The rack of veal and duck are particularly delicious.

Le Jardin des Fondues

Cheese Fondue

I brought in the New Year at this chic little restaurant, where I enjoyed an exquisite evening. Of course, the house speciality is fondues, but you can also choose from a wide array of interesting dishes. To bring in 2011 in style, we decided to savour the Festin du jardin, which includes cheese starters or a raclette, followed by the fondue of your choice and a traditional chocolate fondue or flambéed coffee. With all these choices, we had much difficulty deciding what to choose and it was kindly suggested that we share plates so as to be able to taste a bit of everything! Something to keep in mind, if you plan on trying the “bourguignonne” meat fondue, specify so when you make your reservation. Seats will be reserved downstairs rather than upstairs.

Bistro L’Impression

This lovely bistro located just across from the Île-des-Moulins Historic Site provides a beautiful view of a pond that is converted into an ice skating rink in winter. The large windows let light slowly filter in for a friendly atmosphere. The simple, affordable menu includes traditional bistro dishes, like delicious mussels and exquisite toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. I went there with my children, who had no difficulty finding something they love to eat.
