Tips of the Hat from a Columnist on the Move

Friendly, funny and sometimes touching tips of the hat. Every week, I hope my articles will draw a smile to your lips and make you want to head out and get a feel for Quebec, to see what makes the province tick.

About me: I crisscross between sudden urges for the outdoors and open air, a pronounced taste for cosiness and warm socks, and worldly high-heel ambitions. I trot about, I look around, I want to do it all. Adventurous, I like to head out on my own—sometimes impetuously—to find activities that are one-of-a-kind, that get me moving or give me a little thrill. But no way would I miss out on fun with friends! Yes to cocktails, cottage retreats and spontaneous get-togethers!

I am 25 years old, I have 2 legs to explore the world, just 1 cavity and at least 1,000 ideas.

Hang on to your hat, we’ll see each other soon with my tips!

My favourites
Countryside
To make great finds I like to dust myself off along the Antiques Roadways and Byways at the heart of Centre-du-Québec.
Family
One day, I’ll have my own brood! In the meantime, I ferry around my nephew Tristan and my nieces Chloé and Shadène to the Ecomuseum zoo that I find on a human scale. Their little eyes always see something so big there!
History and Culture
The King’s Road, a strong seam lining the quilt pieced together with Québec, Mauricie and Lanaudière. A special mention for the picturesque villages of Neuville, Cap-Santé, Deschambault and Grondines. Little marvels alongside the river.
Nature
Gaspésie the magnificent with its edge-of-the-world feel. A calm strength to discover on bike, by car, in love or by yourself. For the beauty of Forillon National Park and its great force.
For Fun
A classic: La Ronde! The only place where I can shriek, cry and laugh at the same time. I dare you to sit in the front seat of the Goliath without ever placing your hands on the bar. Intense.

Romance
The train… and everything it calls to mind. Especially Le Massif de Charlevoix train, which will cradle you between tides and treat you to a meal worthy of kings. Perfect for perpetual eye gazing.

Sports and Adventure
Charlevoix and its deep gorges, to take a good dive in. Adventure carried along by the river, from summit to summit. Inspiring. And a tip of the hat to Maeva Surf; we’ll see you soon for a few waves!

Urban
The big city, as some say: Montréal! Things heat up in the cold during Igloofest, there’s lively fun at the Festival de Jazz and the Francofolies. And of all this... Just for Laughs.

Vacationing
Artistic, Wakefield sitting alongside Gatineau River. I go there for the musical selection at Black Sheep Inn, keeping with my folk side. Sleeping at Auberge La Grange, whenever.
