Clock Tower Beach
 |
A breeze from over the water, people lying on the beach tanning… It's not a mirage! The first urban beach in Montréal has unrolled its carpet of golden sand at the Quai de l’Horloge in Montréal's Old Port, and is all dressed up for summer.
Say hello to the river, the sun, and afternoons in the shade of beach umbrellas. Enjoy this oasis to the max and cool down, Montréal style.
Pause button on the river's edge
I love Montréal: I'm dazed by its rhythm, its festivals, its creative momentum. But when I want to press on pause, where's the button? For me, it's the river. And frankly, with the arrival of the Clock Tower Beach that overlooks the St. Lawrence, its warm sand, its misters, the echo of the city muted in the background, the shade from its blue beach umbrellas at the foot of the Clock, it's like short-circuiting time. You settle back comfortably in an Adirondack chair, you remember the sunscreen, you lose your thongs, and you relax.
Need a little snack? Giovanni Apollo will take care of it! The renowned chef creates imaginative summer cuisine at La Buvette, where you will find fresh sandwiches, portobello burgers, strawberry salad, and other healthy gourmet pleasures. There is also wine, your choice of beer, and something refreshing for the kids. Or you can bring your own lunch and non-alcoholic drinks.
Roundup
Clock Tower Beach

- Bathing suits will remain dry and with good reason, swimming is not allowed because the current is too strong to try out your butterfly stroke.
- Admission to the beach is around $6 depending on age and is $15 for families.
- The Clock Tower Beach is open every day from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., except for event nights where it keeps going until 11 p.m.
- Several events will take place on the golden sand, and I strongly suggest the beach for fireworks nights. The view is splendid, like first row seats. There will also be a tapas and rosé wine evening, sand sculptures, and other festivities this summer.
I, for one, will be on the beach this summer: I have an appointment with the river.
