In summer, I like to return to my childhood, eat ice creams cones, travel here and there throughout Quebec, and have a lot of fun. So I thought I'd share my Top 5 list of festivals for family fun to give you a few good reasons to let loose and let all the little ones get in on the fun with you!
These great little events got my attention because they are all out of the ordinary, they're creative, perfect for those who dabble in everything, and for those who just want to have a good time this summer! |
The unusual Cartonfolies
Témiscouata has a hit with a very special festival from June 22 to 24, the Cartonfolies (cardboard follies). I have a penchant for its environmental aspirations and its gentle madness, such as the cardboard boat race on the lake! Yes, you read it right: cardboard on the lake. Laughter guaranteed for participants and spectators. This creative event also has activities such as an introduction to traction kiting, BMX demonstrations, Xbox 360 Kinect tournament, and an energetic show with the popular group Radio Radio. Brilliant.

Clowning around with Montréal complètement cirque
Believe me, people of all ages and sizes will enjoy Montréal complètement cirque, taking place from July 5 to 15, 2012. Clowns, acrobats, jugglers, tightrope walkers, and other quirky characters will be taking the city and its neighbourhoods and parks by storm. Last year, they made me laugh, the amazed me, they moved me. Take a look at the outdoor programming free activities such as the Pique-nique cirque, Ciné-cirque, Jeu de cirque, and all the others that will give you quite a show.

Cuddly creatures at the Fête des mascottes
I don't know about you, but I could do with some cuddly creatures this summer! From July 18 to 22, more than 60 hairy, chubby, fun mascots will be walking down Principale Street in Granby to share happiness, smiles, and a contagious energy! Get out your strollers for the Défi Poussettes (stroller challenge) to raise money for Leucan and replenish your strength with the Déjeuner des mascottes (mascot breakfast). Arts and crafts workshops, train rides, inflatable games, and the famous Défilé tout en lumière (light parade) complete the event.

Long live sand castles!
From sand, imagination, and people who love to work come wonderful creations at the famous Sandcastle Contest. There's a lot of excitement on the beach of Bout du Banc, from August 10 to 12, when hundreds of creators boldly design the most wonderful things out of golden sand. The whole family can participate or just stand back and admire other peoples' work. Wonderful memories to share on the Magdalen Islands this summer! |
