Lyne at Parc national d’Aiguebelle
During a journey to Abitibi-Témiscamingue, I made a stop in the magnificent Parc national d’Aiguebelle where I was advised to explore the Les Paysages trail. The view of the river winding through the mountains, the little falls, and the abundance of plant life along the trail made for a most pleasant hike. I also discovered a magnificent park with a lot of outdoor activities for each season!

My type of hike!

I am, you might say, an average hiker. One of the people who appreciate the activity if it lets them discover magnificent landscapes with no more than an average amount of effort. I was therefore very happy to see that the Parc national d’Aiguebelle had more than one trail of this type to offer me and that it also had a network of more than 60 km of trails suitable for all levels of hikers.

So there I was on the trails of the beautiful Les Paysages. A lovely 1.6 km walk in the forest that took me, for more than an hour, through bountiful nature. Trails that plunged across woods, and straddled little streams, and crossed rocky peaks, and made me climb to the top of the mountain, from which I could admire the Sault Lake fault. A lookout so magnificent, it takes your breath away!

In the middle of this beautiful grandiose nature, an uncommon discovery awaited me! I discovered a spiral stair that gave a touch of modernity to this forest covered country and enabled me to descend the mountain. At the bottom of the stairs, another trail guided me towards more scenery. In a few strides, I found myself walking on water thanks to a floating walkway that let me observe the plants and animals that abounded along the river.

Choose your trail!

The hiking trails of the Parc national d’Aiguebelle are open all summer until the end of November. Obviously, autumn is the ideal time to admire nature in all its colours. There are more than a dozen trails, but the La Traverse trail with its 64 metre long walkway suspended 22 metres above Lake La Haie was highly recommended. This beautiful attraction will surely be part of my next trip to Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
