Lyne and daughter on board the Croisières du Fjord
 |
While I was passing through the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, I stayed on the shores of the Saguenay Fjord, a magnificent place worth exploring. I learned that the Croisières du Fjord is offering a new service this summer: the Navette Maritime (maritime shuttle). Thanks to two ships that crisscross the 100 kilometres of the Saguenay Fjord, passengers can discover the villages of Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Rivière-Éternité, and L’Anse-Saint-Jean without having to take their car.
Discover the most beautiful treasures of the fjord
In Québec, we are spoiled to have such wonderful natural treasures as the Saguenay Fjord. When taking a family vacation a few years ago, I had stayed in the Parc national du Saguenay, more specifically in the sector of Baie-Éternité, where we were able to discover a small part of the immense fjord by traveling along some hiking trails including that of Méandres-à-Falaises which took us to the foot of the Cap Éternité cliffs. It was fascinating to discover the immensity of the rocky cliffs that a gigantic glacier had sculpted during its passage, creating this marvel. Of course, we also took part in one of the outings offered by the Croisières du Fjord. As the countryside floated by, we had ample opportunity to admire a small part of the treasures of the beautiful fjord and wonder what secrets the rest of this aquatic route would reveal to us.

I was therefore very happy to learn about the start of a new service that lets you discover the Saguenay Fjord: the Navette Maritime. It is an original form of transportation that lets you go from one point to another on a route with a regular schedule, just like a bus or metro, similar to the Batobus in Paris. Two tour boats crisscross the 100 kilometres of the Saguenay Fjord between La Baie and Tadoussac, going through the villages of Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, Rivière-Éternité, and L’Anse-Saint-Jean.
Practical Information
The Navette Maritime operates all summer, from July 1 to September 2, and offers regular, guaranteed departures to the five stops on the circuit. This new method of transportation is perfect for visiting the fjord without having to use your car, and is the only way to admire the majestic Saguenay Fjord in its entirety.
