Les Îles de la Madeleine |
When I planned my first trip to the Îles de la Madeleine, I had a few concerns about bringing the children. The distance was one factor that concerned me, but I also wanted to find places that would please my little adventurers. The countryside is extraordinarily beautiful, but action is more fun for young children. After consulting my children, I am happy to share with you our 5 favourite places in the Îles de la Madeleine.
Auberge La Salicorne
"Great" is the only word to describe our stays at the La Salicorne! The all-inclusive formula is perfect for a small family and includes lodging, breakfasts and suppers, visits and activities adapted to all age groups. A wide range of activities are suggested for children, such as building sand castles, kites, gathering shells on the beach and much more.
Aquarium des Îles
This friendly, instructive little museum is located on the island of Havre-Aubert. In addition to observing the fish, Nicholas and Marie-Pier had the opportunity to touch starfish, sea cucumbers and other treasures thanks to the indoor tanks. The Aquarium des Îles also has a gentle Greenland seal who is quick to come and welcome visitors.
Les Châteaux des îles
Believe me, it's best to visit the Islands during the month of August, especially because the Châteaux de sabledes Îles event takes place at this time, from August 9 to 11. This is truly an extraordinary family celebration, even more fantastic when you participate with your children.
Grande Échouerie Beach
The Grande Échouerie beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in the Îles de la Madeleine. We had no end of fun flying kites in the Island's winds, playing in the fine sand and enjoying the water and waves. My children also loved the little playground.
Restaurant La Factrie

Les Îles de la Madeleine |
We were looking for a pleasant, unpretentious family restaurant where the children would be happy to eat and we could taste the islands' famous lobster. Someone suggested the Restaurant La Factrie telling us that there was nothing fancy about it! This cafeteria-style restaurant was a wonderful discovery that serves an impressive selection of seafood as well as pizzas, pasta and other foods that children love!
