Region: Chaudière-Appalaches Category: Museum
Municipality: Sainte-Marie Traveler reviews:
The only North-American francophone museum dedicated to civil aviation, the Civil Aviation Museum invites you to go back in time by admiring different objects and artefacts that made their mark on the history and development of civil aviation. Located in Sainte-Marie, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada, this museum is dedicated to highlighting the contributions made by Beauce pioneers (including more famous individuals--members of the Fecteau, Vachon and Faucher families) that helped make the industry boom. With the different exhibitions on display, you can learn more about the past of the CL-415 Superscooper and women in aviation. In 2012, the addition of artefacts from Julie Payette and the providing of Chris Hadfield (future commander of the International Space Station) mementos from the Canadian Space Agency illustrate the similarities between aviation and space pioneers. Visiting the Civil Aviation Museum is about experiencing a fascinating past while discovering little-known heroes who marked the industry. The Musée du Père Gédéon remains quite popular with visitors.
