Founded in 1864 in the wake of the Civil War, the Windsor powder mill--located in the Eastern Townships--is the oldest black powder factory in Quebec. Of the 56 buildings that were, you can still see some remnants along five kilometres (three miles) of hiking trails on the shores of the Watopeka River. The Parc historique de la poudrière de Windsor also offers visitors dramatized guided tours tailored for groups of all ages, exhibits (permanent and temporary), a terrace with bar service, lunch service on site in summer, a gift shop, picnic areas, and more. A multimedia presentation offers an immersive experience in time!
