In the simple blink of an eye, you will be won over by the Eastern Townships. Not surprising given that this bucolic paradise, to the south of the province bordering the U.S., teems with mountains, valleys, country roads and picturesque Anglo-Saxon looking villages. A great way to discover regional history is to follow along the Townships Trail (signposted Chemin des Cantons). With four national parks and Summit Drive (Route des Sommets), the region masters the art of encouraging activity. Here, hiking and biking are just a few of the activities on the agenda. The art of tasting is also highlighted with the Wine Route, the Cafés de village, Créateurs de Saveurs products, not to mention country and gastronomic dining. The region abounds with entertainment venues and exhibition halls, not to mention over 130 festivals. Finally, a stopover in a gite or health centre will give visitors a good feel for what the art of living is about in this region.
