Only 20 minutes from the bridges of Quebec, Sainte-Marie is the second largest city in Beauce. The city is named after Marie-Claire Fleury from Gorgendière, a lordship conceded to her husband Thomas-Jacques Taschereau in 1736. Sainte-Marie is one of only two cities in Chaudière-Appalaches to have received 4 “Fleurons du Québec”; you will surely enjoy its rural landscapes. The bicycle path will also charm with 46 kilometres (29 miles) of rural landscapes and 7 gourmet stops. The patrimonial circuit will carry you off to explore commercial and industrial history on Notre-Dame Street. Check out the religious circuit with its church that is over 150 years old and 5 chapels. To complete your visit, meet the pioneers of civil aviation at the aviation museum, discover the Beauceron entrepreneurship story at Maison J.A. Vachon and explore the only economuseum in Chaudière-Appalaches: Le Forgeron d'Or. At most sites, service is offered in English. Come meet passionate people!
