Invest in a moment of rest and introspection in a place of authenticity rich with monastic heritage. The Quebec Religious and Spiritual Tourism Association suggests four ideas for a retreat sure to do you a world of good.

Reconnect with tranquility

Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette is a true slice of paradise in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. This site invites you to meditate and rest in the heart of nature. Guests can choose lodging in the hotel, a cottage or even a campsite. Founded in 1907 and managed by the Capuchin religious order, it includes attractions and activities such as an immersive multimedia show called Origine, guided tours, a museum and pedestrian trails.

Take care of yourself

Embark on a unique experience of global health at the Augustinian Monastery (Monastère des Augustines). Located in the heart of Old Québec City, this place carries on the mission of the sisters, dedicated to the healing of the body and mind. Each stay in either an "authentic" or "contemporary" room comes with access to the museum and common areas of relaxation and meditation. Have a look at the program of health-related workshops. On site, the Centre Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin and chapel can be visited.

Embrace the silence

Built in 1912, the Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac is renowned for its beautiful location, but also for its simple guesthouse. The quest for silence takes on new meaning during a spiritual retreat there. Bask in the enchanting setting of the Eastern Townships for a return to basics, relaxation and begin true introspection. Visitors can also drop by this abbey for a guided or audioguided tour, attend mass or listen to Gregorian chants.

Enjoy a retreat in a remote environment

Located on Saint-Bernard Island in Châteauguay, Manoir D’Youville is a resort ideal for relaxation and getting back to basics. Bathed in enchanting, natural scenery, this site formerly owned by the Grey Nuns includes paths leading to amazing views. In the summer, structured activities such as introduction to yoga and water aerobics provide well-deserved respite.
