It’s never too late to learn and experience the thrill of downhill skiing! Quebec’s ski centres want you to discover all the fun of skiing or snowboarding through a series of introductory activities designed for all and offered in various packages. Snow tends to make kids restless, so why not give them a way to channel that energy into a sport they will love their entire lives? It will also make them appreciate all of the beautiful snow that falls on the mountains each winter. If you are a novice as well, make this an opportunity for family fun!

Remember your first time?

More than a simple activity, Ma première fois (my first time) is a program targeted to new skiers ages 9 and over. Offered in many centres throughout the province, this activity is available as a package deal that includes gear rental, access to the learning zone and a one-hour group lesson for the affordable price of $25. The intro course takes place January 6 and participants must register at

They can start skiing as young as five years old!

You’re never too young to learn! Two learning activities are offered to children ages 5 to 8 and both are free. On February 12, introductory classes are offered on the mountains at participating ski centres and they include a one-hour skiing or snowboarding group lesson as well as all the necessary equipment.

Skiers and riders ages 5 to 8 can also experience the joy of the sport in some city parks, including the permanent sites in Laval, Longueuil, Montréal and Québec City, as well as at the Winterlude festival held in Gatineau February 3 to 20. Also free, this is a 90-minute intro activity that provides participants with all the gear they need.
