Get ready for the best family vacation at the heart of majestic Côte-Nord. Each day spent at the Cap-de-Bon-Désir Interpretation and Observation Centre is memorable. Located 20 minutes away from Tadoussac, this is a fantastic spot for whale-watching on dry land. The team of interpreter-guides has activities for all ages that reveal the many secrets of the flora and fauna of the St. Lawrence.

Become a Parks Canada Xplorer

Visits to the Cap-de-Bon-Désir Interpretation and Observation Centre are especially interesting for kids. Children ages 6 to 11 are sure to have a great time when they take part in the Parks Canada Xplorers activities. Participants receive a free booklet filled with games they’ll love. After completing the required number of activities, they will be awarded a medal and certificate recognizing them as official Parks Canada Xplorers! Little ones also get their own guides, a popular feature available since last summer.

These activities are offered until the end of the season at Cap-de-Bon-Désir and at the Pointe-Noire Interpretation and Observation Centre and the Marine Environment Discovery Centre. While the kids are having a ball, parents can enjoy watching whales, birds and seals by the shore.

Let the St. Lawrence Captivate You

The secrets of rich marine wildlife are revealed with plenty of discovery activities taking place on the water or the shore. In the spotlight is the 30 Feet into Neptune’s World activity, which helps you discover colourful animals living at the bottom of the sea. Divers scoop up starfish, anemones and sea cucumbers, bringing them to the surface so you can see them up close. The Postal Cards activity then lets the little ones create a beautiful souvenir of their day.

Each day at the Cap-de-Bon-Désir Interpretation and Observation Centre is a day to remember. Before heading over there, don’t forget a windbreaker, warm clothes, snacks, binoculars and a camera!

Would you like to see living organisms in their habitat without having to dive into the river? The St. Lawrence Live activity is bound to be a hoot!
