Built by Canadian Pacific, the hotel
opened its doors on December 18, 1893. Over the course of its
existence, major historical events have taken place there,
including the Québec Conferences, which led to key political
agreements during the Second World War. History buffs can hop on
the guided tour filled with facts about the storied past of the
Château, which was designated a National Historic Site of Canada
in 1981. The tour also focuses on the hotel’s architecture,
inspired by the style of the Châteaux of the Loire Valley.

stayed there. These former guests and many others helped mould the
legend of Château Frontenac, and in their honour, suites at the
hotel will be named after them.
