Calling fans of history and culture, this museum is a must for discovering the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region! The Pulperie de Chicoutimi is a magnificent place where you’ll find eight fascinating exhibitions of art, history and ethnology. Known for its program of cultural and educational activities and its interpretation circuit, the Pulperie de Chicoutimi is dedicated to the showcasing of local heritage. Here is a look at three of the featured exhibits.

Confining the daily life

An exhibition that all visitors will no doubt relate to! By presenting a selection of objects from the museum’s collections from the angle of confinement, the exhibition takes an interesting look at how people continued their lives and found ways to learn, express themselves and stay entertained. Produced by the staff at the museum in record time, it will allow visitors to see the reality of the past within a contemporary context. The goal: to ignore this invisible enemy that turned our lives upside down.

Fragments of Humanity

Entierely devoted to archaeology in Quebec, this exhibit presents objects found in digs at more than 10,000 sites throughout the province. Produced by the Pointe-à-Callière museum in Montréal, this exhibit has been enhanced by the Pulperie with the addition of more than 50 locally discovered objects. Visitors will be able to admire about 250 pieces of significant importance.

Arthur Villeneuve Far from naive!

This permanent exhibit is centred on the house of Painter Arthur Villeneuve, which was relocated inside the museum. As you admire the artwork, watch the projection shown over the house and listen to clips of interviews, you’ll understand why this self-taught painter succeeded in making a name for himself in the Quebec art scene! Visitors will discover his talent, style and imagination!
