Treat yourself to a trip back in time at Manoir Boucher de Niverville

This summer, choose a cultural getaway and experience the unique atmosphere of the oldest manor in Trois-Rivières. The Manoir Boucher de Niverville is a major piece of local heritage and welcomes visitors for a trip back in time through an exhibit that shows what life was like back in the day as well as a tour of the city. Discover it on a family vacation, on your own or as a couple’s activity!

An exhibit on the bourgeoisie in New France

This permanent exhibition will help you understand how the evolution and transformations of the manor have made it one of Quebec's heritage jewels. Classified as a historic monument in 1960, the manor was restored 11 years later by the Commission des monuments historiques du Québec. The exhibition also invites you to discover the world of Marie-Josephte Chastelain and her husband Joseph-Claude Boucher de Niverville, a bourgeois couple who lived in the New France colony. Discover what foods they ate, how they dressed and their various customs.

Explore the city by taking a tour

A walking tour starting from the Manoir Boucher de Niverville, complete with an audio-guide, invites you to explore the history and architecture of Trois-Rivières in a very original way. Using the vintage device of a View Master, you will get to see archival photos presenting transformed or disappeared buildings, as well as depictions of significant events in the city's history. An ideal way to discover Trois-Rivières again or for the first time... and a sure-fire pleaser for nostalgics who will be delighted to reconnect with the beautiful childhood memories associated with this favourite old toy!
