A cross-country skiing outing is both a chance to reconnect with Mother Nature and an opportunity to leave your cares behind and focus wholly on exercise. And as the province has more than 4,000 kilometres of marked and groomed trails, there are plenty of opportunities to get active. Admire the pure white landscape and try to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife on a day out with your family, with your sweetheart or just on your own.

Important: travelling between regions is still not recommended. Be sure to follow sanitary guidelines during your activities.

Skiing out in nature… and in the heart of the city

Parc Jean-Drapeau invites skiers to enjoy two classic-style trails, marked and maintained, just 5 minutes from the Island of Montreal. Novices can take the 750-metre loop so that they can find their feet at their own pace. The second path totals 5 km and runs along the Olympic basin to then follow the bike path and run through the Floralies Gardens. Beginners and intermediates alike will love it!

The island of Laval is another great place for cross-country skiing, and the Coureurs de boisés club in the region offers 25 km of marked, well-maintained trails. The grounds used by the club are a mix of forests and agricultural field, making them a unique haven for trees and wildlife. Known for the quality of its trails, both for classic and skate styles, this club happily welcomes seasoned skiers as well as families.

Located in the Québec City region, Les Sentiers du Moulin promise you a unique experience in the forest, both for classic cross-country skiing and for skate-style. More experienced skiers will be thrilled with long-distance options, while families preferring short outings can choose an easy loop along the Waterloo River.

Choice destinations for cross-country skiing in Abitibi and the Outaouais

Practice your favourite sport in the heart of Abitibi thanks to the Val-d'Or club, offering up more than 40 kilometres of marked trails for classic- and skate-style skiing. You will find trails for all tastes and all levels, whether you are looking for a thrilling long excursion or a peaceful glide through the forest.

Skiers in the Outaouais region are sure to be familiar with the Gatineau Park, home of one of the largest cross-country skiing networks in North America. The park features groomed trails for both styles of skiing as well as backcountry trails for all types of skiers. 200 km of trails that crisscross through the snow-covered forest and follow frozen lakes and valleys are yours to explore – and did we mention there are endless possibilities for designing your own circuit?
