Delicious homegrown products at religious sites

The Val Notre-Dame Abbey, located in Saint-Jean-de-Matha, is known for its store, where you’ll find products made with ingredients foraged in the forest by the monks, as well as a wide variety of local products from other local businesses. On site there are also trails where you can stroll and admire the beauty of the landscape. The abbey offers several activities taking place in its private forest and orchard, as well as hikes and gourmet workshops.

In the Eastern Townships, the fruit of the monks’ labour at the Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac finds a choice spot in their store. The large orchard allows for the production of many apple-based products. You can buy sparkling ciders made with the Champagne method, apple butter and berry jam. And how about sampling the abbey's blue cheeses, several of which have received prestigious awards... Simply delicious!

Splendid places of meditation and tranquility

Only 20 minutes from Québec City, the Sanctuary of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is rich with paintings, mosaics, stained glass windows and sculptures of stone and wood. In addition to the superb neo-Romanesque basilica, which houses a chapel and other beautifully decorated places for meditation, the Sanctuary is home to the "Scala Santa", the commemorative chapel and the bronze Way of the Cross.

If you're looking for a place to meditate and recharge your batteries, you'll love the l’Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette, a true slice of heaven in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Founded in 1907 and run by the Capuchin fraternity, this spiritual oasis features attractions and activities such as an immersive multimedia show, guided tours, a museum and hiking trails. Onsite accommodations in rooms, cottages or on campsites are also available for those who wish to stay longer in this enchanting environment.
