With the arrival of October, nature has donned her most beautiful colours and is looking like a Van Gogh painting. Quebec’s vast territory is home to magnificent municipal, regional and national parks and huge expanses of fresh air. These destinations are also marvellous places to enjoy some outdoor activities and admire the scenery!

Havens of nature near the city

Even in urban environments, flamboyant colours permeate the treetops! Parc Jean-Drapeau is a great spot from which to admire their beauty. Located just 5 minutes from downtown Montréal and easy to access by metro, this superb park amazes with lush nature and lovely trails for pedestrians and cyclists. An ideal place to relax close to the metropolis.

The Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau borders the Ottawa River and offers spectacular views of downtown Ottawa. Families love to take a walk there or go on a bike ride past the Maurice Richard Monument and along the Trans Canada Trail, which also leads to the splendorous Leamy Lake and the treasures of Gatineau Park.

The Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, located 15 minutes away from Old Québec City, is one of the province’s most extraordinary historic and natural sites. Contemplate the impressive 83-metre-tall waterfall from the panoramic stairs or choose the adventurous route on any of the three via ferrata courses or the 300-metre-long zipline. You’ll absolutely love it!

Dreamlike scenery

A true paradise for nature lovers, the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook is simply sublime in the fall. Go on a hike on the longest suspended pedestrian bridge in North America. Biking and camping are two choice activities at this park, not to mention the enchanting Foresta Lumina nighttime path, open until October 10, which is inevitably spellbinding.

The Parc régional Bois de Belle-Rivière is one of the most beautiful forest estates in Quebec and offers a wide selection of activities in an enchanting setting. Take a stroll on the trails, have a picnic, go fishing or check out the special gourmet event. And you can even take your four-legged friend with you to frolic in the dog park or tag along on the trails where dogs are permitted.

For a total change of scenery, escape to the Forillon National Park, a dazzling gem in the Gaspésie region. This park of steep cliffs rising from the sea and pebble beaches is a prime spot for listening to seabirds and looking out to the horizon for a glimpse of a whale. Hikers love it for its vast network of trails for all levels and spectacular views!
