Located in Valcourt, in the Eastern Townships, the cultural centre offers a rich program of cultural and educational activities and an array of exhibitions for the whole family to enjoy. This summer, soak up local culture and enjoy an inspiring experience at the Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Centre!

Discover Ensemble, a fascinating exhibit

Until August 21, 2022, discover Ensemble, a visual arts exhibit that brings together the work of four exceptional artists, all revolving around the theme of community and coexistence.

Jennifer Alleyn’s Le catalogue des traces is an exhibit that explores the difficulties newcomers face when arriving in Quebec, from coping with a sense of loss to overcoming challenges. Visitors can also explore Sherbrooke artist Josianne Bolduc’s Caméo, a mural composed of photos taken continuously of visitors at the centre. Bolduc’s project reflects the emotional relationships visitors have with one another and with the space itself.

Explore Violette Dionne’s Eurêka! Inventions de tout genre......, a project that focuses on the relationship between the human body and machines. This exhibit also showcases the mechanical properties of the body, while exploring issues related to industrialization. Lastly, discover Eastern Townships artist Andrée Marcoux’s black and white images of animals in Bestiaire. Marcoux’s exhibit celebrates her love of animals, while reflecting on the justification for capturing wild animals and the impact of human civilization on biodiversity.

Search and Find: the perfect family activity

If you want to explore the exhibits from an entirely new perspective, why not try the centre’s Search and Find game? During this activity, you’ll observe certain aspects of the artwork that you might not have noticed otherwise, all while having fun at the same time. There’s plenty of entertainment to be had by the whole family!

A blend of culture and the great outdoors

The cultural centre is also surrounded by a splendid park. As you walk along the paths, you’ll learn about the park’s history through various anecdotes by snapping pictures of the QR codes set up along the way. Learn about the park’s origins, the architecture of the cultural centre, and the outdoor artwork on display. If the weather’s nice, bring a picnic and enjoy the view! Want to keep exploring?
