Located just 90 minutes from Montreal, it has all the assets of a major destination: distinctive architecture, a wide range of restaurants including excellent gourmet eateries, and major shows and events. Sherbrooke also has three rivers running through it, and so many parks that it’s hard to list them all! Here are some ideas of events to check out and activities to do to enjoy a visit there this fall! Taste the gourmet side of Sherbrooke Explore the finest restaurants The Sherbrooke Restaurant Week is a unique event that has been a great success for 10 years now. The organizers of this gourmet happening have set themselves the challenge of getting people out and about to discover Sherbrooke’s finest restaurants, making them accessible to as many people as possible. Let yourself be dazzled by the expertise of local chefs, each outdoing each other with creativity to whip up the perfect discovery menu! See 18 giant works of art The murals of Sherbrooke turn the city into an outdoor art gallery. A gallery of art, yes, but also of history, as each mural commemorates an important event or moment that is part of the city’s story, or some of its key figures. These 18 giant works of art are scattered around the downtown area, attracting the curiosity of those who take the time to observe them. Take advantage of your stay in Sherbrooke to walk the 3.5- or 7-km murals circuit. Go on a fall outing At the heart of Sherbrooke, you’ll find the Lac des Nations, and “walking around the lake”, as the locals say, is a must. You’ll be able to admire the Photo Trail and stop off at the Marché de la Gare. If you’re a keen cyclist, you’ll want to know that part of this walk is a section of the Grandes-Fourches cycle route. The Grandes-Fourches Loop is a 54-km circuit that passes through bucolic landscapes – fabulous in the fall – along the Massawippi, Saint-François and Magog rivers, and through the picturesque village of North Hatley.
