This journey will carry you through three tourist regions, from Old Québec to the charming Bas-Saint-Laurent region and Côte-du-Sud in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. As you follow the St. Lawrence River, you will get a chance to discover treasures of history, heritage, nature and agritourism in these beautiful regions of Québec.

Treasures East of the Capital!
1. Cross the St. Lawrence. As you wind through the old streets of Lower Québec, you will catch sight of a lovely city on the opposite shore of the St. Lawrence River; that is Lévis, the starting point for a trip down Navigators’ Route along Route 132 east toward the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. To begin your adventure, climb aboard the ferry linking Old Québec to the City of Lévis.

2. The City of Lévis holds many treasures for you to uncover. The rich heritage of Old Lévis is exceptional. And let’s not forget the Parcours des Anses, a multipurpose linear park alongside the river that is part of the Route Verte and Trans Canada trail networks.

3. On the road to Montmagny, stop at Berthier-sur-Mer for a cruise with Croisières Lachance to either Crane Island or the Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site, a former quarantine station for the Port of Québec and the main point of entry for immigrants coming to Canada until the First World War.

4. A Piece of History. Established in 1721, Saint-Jean-Port-Joli is a must-see village. During the 1759 Conquest, all the houses were burned as per the orders of British general James Wolfe. Today, you can visit the village church, a masterpiece of Québec religious heritage.

5. Bas Saint-Laurent. Here you are, on the doorstep of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. A stop at Rivière-du-Loup is in order so you can visit the Bas-Saint-Laurent Museum or enjoy a boat excursion to discover whales on the St. Lawrence River with AML Cruises. Pursue your journey to Rimouski.

6. Before arriving in Rimouski, a stop at Bic National Park is a must! With capes, bays, coves, islands and mountains, the park is a refuge for thousands of seabirds and seals. This is a great place to enjoy boating and outdoor activities in luxuriant nature.

7. Nearing the Ocean. As you continue on you will reach Québec’s oceanic capital, Rimouski, where you can discover the Pointe-au-Père Maritime Historic Site and revisit the sinking of the Empress of Ireland. You can also tour the Onondaga submarine, a one-of-a-kind in Canada.
