Discover the only blockhouse in Quebec to have survived the test of time. Built around 1781, the Lacolle River Blockhouse was part of the British colony's defense network at the time. With its originality and uniqueness, this fortification intrigues and challenges the visitor on a stroll or the seasoned tourist. The two-storey Blockhaus is made of squared timbers, with a projecting second storey topped by a pyramidal roof. The walls are pierced by loopholes and embrasures for rifles and cannons. Plunge into the heart of the March 30, 1814 battle between American and British troops and experience a truly historic adventure. Located on the banks of the Richelieu River in Saint-Paul-de-l'Île-aux-Noix, the Lacolle River Blockhouse bears witness to 230 years of history in the Haut-Richelieu region.
