Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site
The Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site offers visitors a spectacular view of the battle that was held at Pointe-à-la-Croix in the Gaspésie region of Canada. This national historic site commemorates the last naval engagement fought between France and Great Britain for possession of territory on the North American continent. The confrontation took place at the mouth of the Restigouche River in the summer of 1760 and sealed once and for all the faith of New France. In the late 1960s, underwater archaeological research recovered amazing artefacts that now help tell the story to visitors.
