Musée de la Vieille Fromagerie Perron

The Perron Old Cheese Factory Museum is an exceptional historic building. Recognized as a heritage property by the Ministry of Culture and Communications, it is the last and only remaining example of the artisanal cheese factories in Canada that were widespread across the country in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A visit to the former Perron cheese factory will help you better understand its history and the traditional techniques used to make cheddar cheese. You can also visit the cheesemaker’s living quarters on the second floor of the museum and discover the family values of that era. To conclude your visit, you’ll be offered a tasting of Perron cheeses, and you can even get hands-on by taking part in a fresh cheese-making workshop.
