MA, Rouyn-Noranda Art Museum
MA, Rouyn-Noranda Art Museum
A true cultural center, the Rouyn-Noranda Art Museum contributes to the vitality of the city and uses its exhibition halls to participate in the growth of the visual arts in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Through its educational programs, it contributes to the appreciation of the arts among school and community audiences and the general population. The MA maintains close ties with UQAT and the Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue through exhibition and research projects. It also mainttains relationships with multiple cultural and community organizations for the programming of one-off events. Sensitive to the reality of the First Nations who live on the territory, it maintains special ties with their artists whose originality strongly marks the cultural richness of the Anishinabe, Cree and Attikamek. Finally, thanks to its collection, the MA establishes a strong and unique northern identity in the collective imagination.
