The Shawi Beach

The Shawi Beach, a can’t-miss event for local sports enthusiasts, takes place on the Plage Idéale bordering Lac à la Tortue, over an entire weekend in July. You can sign up for beach volleyball, running or canoe/rabaska competitions. For the running events, there are even short courses for kids, others for beginners, and even a half-marathon if you’re more experienced or feel like a bigger challenge. You’re more of a spectator? Bring your family and friends along and enjoy the festive atmosphere together. Fun is guaranteed with inflatable games, water games and mascots, plus booths, street food and alcohol trucks. The icing on the cake is the Saturday evening show, followed by fireworks that are sure to amaze the whole family. The event is organized by Événements Shawinigan, a non-profit dedicated to bringing people together and fostering a sense of community in Shawinigan.
