Taking place in the village of Val-David in the heart of the Laurentians, 1001 Pots is a major outdoor exhibition that celebrates the excellence of contemporary Quebec ceramics. From fun activities for the whole family to special music concerts and introductory worshops, here’s an overview of what awaits you during this 36th edition!

Courses and workshops for budding artists

Fancy a hands-on introduction to ceramics? There are plenty of options for a first experience at 1001 Pots. Children’s classes are offered free of charge this year thanks to support from Desjardins. Kids will love the handbuilding courses created just for them, while adults can immerse themselves in this creative world for an intensive day (or week!) of throwing. If you’re short of time, there’s something for you, too! Get a taste of this art during a 1.5-hour introductory course on weekends. Book your spot!

Music and ceramics, the perfect marriage

To discover 1001 Pots to the sound of music, intimate concerts are held every Friday evening at the Jardins de Silice starting at 7 p.m. (as well as on Thursday, August 7 at 8:30 p.m.). Wander the site at your own pace, then take a break to sit back and enjoy melodies by artists from diverse backgrounds who blend styles and influences in a spirit of creative exploration and cultural exchange. And on Saturday afternoons, live jazz sets the tone as visitors explore the site.

Decorate ceramics for a good cause

On August 2 and 3, 2025, don’t miss Empty Bowls, a free event during which you can decorate bowls made by participating ceramists. The bowls will then be sold in the fall at the local market, Marché de Val-David, to raise funds for the local food bank. It’s a great opportunity to take part in this worldwide solidarity movement!

Step into the world of Myriam Bouchard

In addition to hosting several artists in residence, 1001 Pots is unveiling a brand-new space this year dedicated to showcasing renowned ceramic artists. For its 2025 debut, the new Espace K will welcome its very first guest: Québec artist Myriam Bouchard. Internationally trained, she creates flame-fired pieces where the direct relationship between clay and fire gives rise to rich, deep and one-of-a-kind textures. A must-see!

For an extra surprise: puppets to entertain the whole family!

If you visit the exhibition between August 1 and 10, you’ll also get to attend the 1001 Patentes qui Bougent festival, featuring a puppet theatre and masked performances. Indoor shows, outdoor performances, introductory workshops and masterclasses will bring the 1001 Pots site to life, to the delight of children and adults alike!
