From June 29 to July 8, 2023, the downtown area will be filled with vibrant music for the 43rd edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Internationally renowned artists and rising stars will share the stage, presenting more than 300 indoor and outdoor shows in a lively atmosphere befitting of Montreal’s vibrant summer nights. Here are three popular artists to discover (or rediscover) at this year’s Jazz Fest!

Celebrate jazz with the legendary George Benson

Jazz icon George Benson combines exceptional guitar riffs with his warm, powerful and magnetic vocals. His unique style is a seamless blend of jazz, funk and pop, taking audiences on a deeply mesmerizing musical voyage. His distinct sound has garnered him many accolades throughout his career, including 10 Grammy Awards. George Benson will be performing on June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts.

Relish the sounds of Chris Botti

Lauded for his contemporary jazz style, legendary trumpeter and composer Chris Botti combines elements of jazz, pop and classical music. His captivating trumpet playing is made up of soft, deep, melancholic melodies. He’s also famous for his extraordinary ability to immerse audiences in a unique, intimate and highly emotional musical universe. Chris Botti will be performing on July 1 at 7 p.m. at the Maison symphonique de Montréal.

Delve into the universe of virtuoso Hiromi

Japanese pianist and composer Hiromi skillfully combines elements of jazz, classical and traditional Japanese music to create entirely original hybrid compositions that immerse audiences in a unique musical universe. Her technical skills, intricate rhythms, distinctive style, and remarkable ability to improvise melodies have made her one of the most avant-garde pianists of today’s jazz scene. Hiromi will be performing on June 29 at 8 p.m. at Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts.
