A summer of rich flavours and history in Montérégie
Published on July 7, 2025 • Destinations to explore
Whether you’re travelling as a couple, a group of friends or a family, here are three experiences to enjoy that combine culture, discovery and local pleasure in Montérégie.

Tourisme Montérégie
Summer is a time to enjoy activities that are a little out of the ordinary. Something worthwhile and lively, that gives us a little more. In the Montérégie region, between deeply-rooted traditions and today’s know-how, you’ll find plenty to feed your curiosity... and your appetite.
Interra: discovering food differently
Presented by Station Agro-Biotech in Saint-Hyacinthe, Interra is an immersive experience that plunges visitors into the fascinating world of food processing. Thanks to an animated comic strip, interactive tables and movie projections, you can explore the inner workings of Quebec’s agri-food industry while tasting local products. It’s fun, insightful and perfect for a rainy day. You’ll also discover how homegrown innovations are shaping tomorrow’s food, with an accessible look at the science behind what we eat every day.
Dive into living history at Musée du Fort Saint-Jean
From August 15 to 17, 2025, the Musée du Fort Saint-Jean transports you to the heart of the American War of Independence, as part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Siege of Fort St. Jean. Historical reenactments, onsite activities and guaranteed immersion, all during the weekend of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu International Balloon Festival! A great way to combine culture, action and heritage in a unique riverside setting.
And for a more complete visit, the museum also features a permanent exhibition retracing over 350 years of military presence: period objects, previously unpublished documents and fascinating stories bring the milestones of the fort’s history to life.
The heritage of cider in Hemmingford
At Cidrerie du Minot, cider is celebrated as an art of living. The brand-new Cidergrower’s ÉCONOMUSÉE® offers an immersive tour that tells the story of the Demoy family, pioneers in the world of cider in Quebec. A visit to the Musée du Grand-Père (the grandfather’s museum), an interpretation trail and free tastings in a bucolic setting: the perfect activity for fans of local products and long-standing traditions.
You’ll also discover the different stages of production, from orchard to bottle, and the Breton influence that still inspires the ciders produced on site. The site, surrounded by apple trees, inspires you to take your time, taste, chat... and take a little bit of Montérégie back home with you in a bottle.
