Explore cross-country skiing trails

With its vast white expanses, the Bas-Saint-Laurent region boasts a multitude of exceptional cross-country skiing trails.

For an immersion in nature, visit the Parc national du Bic in Rimouski. With tranquil forests, majestic mountains and riverside landscapes, your outing will be both an adventure and a soothing experience.

You can also explore the Ixworth trail in La Pocatière, Kamouraska, with free access to 46 km (28 miles) of trails along the Rivière Sainte-Anne and its sublime waterfalls.

The region is also home to cross-country ski clubs, for a more exclusive experience, and shorter trails for beginners. 

Take on the challenge of ice climbing

If you’re looking for an exhilarating experience that includes stunning winter beauty, try ice climbing at the Riki Bloc Cooperative. Accompanied by certified guides, you’ll safely climb frozen walls and waterfalls in the majestic Parc des Chutes in Rivière-du-Loup. Wonder and thrills await you on the icy peaks, over 40 meters (130 feet) high!

If you don’t have much climbing experience, you can sign up for a comprehensive introductory course to better equip yourself for this adventure.

Go for a ski getaway in the mountains       

With its magnificent snow-capped mountains, the Bas-Saint-Laurent region is also a prime destination for downhill skiing and snowboarding. It’s the perfect opportunity to organize a complete getaway where you can hit the slopes all day long, then relax with some après-ski fun. Everything is there: on-site or nearby accommodation, equipment rentals, food service, and beginner slopes to introduce your little skiers to the sport.

There are two major ski resorts in the region, Mont-Saint-Mathieu and Mont-Comi, with nearly 30 trails, snow parks, and more. For a more private experience, opt for the Club de ski du Mont-Biencourt and its spectacular view of the lake.
