Explore the Eeyou Istchee territory with the Nibiischii Corporation
Located northwest of Chibougamau, the Nibiischii Corporation (meaning “Land of Water, the place where the great natural waters of the North are born”) invites you to discover more than 12,000 km² of boreal wilderness, dotted with dense forests and thousands of spectacular lakes and rivers.
The rustic atihkw (Cree for “caribou”) cabins and the mwakw (Cree for “loon”) on-ice cabins on Waconichi Lake offer everything you need for a comfortable winter getaway amid breathtaking scenery. You can relax in the sauna, explore the trails on snowshoes or Hok skis, experience the thrill of paraskiing, or stargaze under the vast northern sky.
Experience adventure and culture in Nitassinan
The Innu company Authentikah Tours offers a brand-new winter experience that combines adventure, culture, and comfort.
The four-night, five-day package includes guided snowmobile tours, luxury forest accommodations, and homecooked meals carefully prepared by the owner. Along the way, you’ll travel across frozen lakes and snow-covered rivers, exploring the untouched territory in the heart of Nitassinan.
Want to make your stay even more memorable? Go on an ice fishing excursion, spend the night at a trapper’s camp, try dog sledding, or visit a sugar shack.
Discover Indigenous art at the Hôtel de Glace
Starting December 27, 2025, Québec City’s legendary Hôtel de Glace (Ice Hotel) will unveil a spectacular new edition with fleeting experiences that celebrate the fusion of ice and First Nations and Inuit cultures.
At the entrance, discover an ice replica of a Wendat longhouse, intricately carved with traditional designs. Further inside, explore a giant ice map showcasing the lands of Quebec’s 11 Nations. Along the way, admire ice sculptures by Indigenous artists set to a soundtrack of traditional music for a unique, immersive experience.
While you’re in the area, be sure to visit the Wendat community of Wendake, just minutes from the site, to learn more about the Wendat Nation.
