Make the most of your outing at the Reford Gardens! From June 3 to October 1, discover this incredible destination that combines horticulture, history, art and gastronomy. The Reford Gardens is an open-air museum with a rich history and a bright future. Backed by a team of farmers and anglers, founder Elsie Reford was a pioneering horticulturist who strived to create magnificent gardens hundreds of kilometres from the nearest nursery.

Gardens and activities galore

Over time, the Reford Gardens has truly become a living archive of Elsie Reford’s work. You can admire her efforts in the many historic gardens, from the Entrance Garden to the Vegetable Garden, not to mention the Blue Poppy Glade and the Azalea Walk with its rare species. There are also tons of activities lined up at the Reford Gardens, including launches, events, workshops and architecture games for kids, and more. No matter when you visit, you’ll have your pick of activities to enjoy.

Unique exhibits

The Reford Gardens is also a popular exhibit space for Quebec and Canadian artists and currently hosts a number of ongoing exhibits. There’s something for everyone! While this year’s museum theme, Art de vivre, focuses on fashion, visitors can also explore the history of photography, fishing guides, beauty, nature and tools of gardening — perfect for beginners and experienced gardeners. Don’t forget to stop by the new Great Hall and explore Alexander Henderson - Photographe de nature, an exhibit dedicated to this distinguished photographer.

Roots, a must-attend festival

From June 24 to October 1, contemporary garden enthusiasts and those involved in the renewal of this great art form can attend the 24th edition of the International Garden Festival. Roots, the title of this year’s festival, encourages visitors to reflect on the role of nature, and especially that of native plant species, in today’s rapidly changing digital environment. The festival is an impressive multisensory experience for the whole family that encourages visitors to go back to basics.
