Flagship exhibitions combining nature and history
Each exhibition at the Biophare highlights the richness of Sorel-Tracy’s natural and cultural heritage. Running until September, L’observatoire du lac Saint-Pierre delves into the unique ecological features that earned Lac Saint-Pierre its UNESCO Biosphere Reserve designation. Visit Nature of the St. Lawrence with your family until January 2026, and learn all about the river’s incredible flora and fauna. And don’t miss L’appel du large, a poignant exhibition about Sorel’s industrial history during World War II.
An exceptional environment to explore by water
A boat tour is an excellent way to observe Lac Saint-Pierre’s flora and fauna. Alongside captains/guides eager to share fascinating stories and legends, you’ll cruise through a maze of waterways in the heart of a hundred islands. Boat tours run at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. from June to October, with an additional 5 p.m. tour from June to August to catch a breathtaking sunset and see wildlife at dusk. To round out your visit, this excursion also includes access to the Biophare exhibits and a 90-minute guided tour. You’ll start by learning the theory, then apply it directly in the field. And don’t forget your binoculars! The region is teeming with herons, egrets, and many other feathered creatures.
