For families: meet Abbie the Bee
Throughout the summer, families with young children are invited to discover the fascinating world of bees on guided tours designed to spark their curiosity. Held in the morning, these tours begin with a brief introduction on bees, followed by the viewing of a cartoon starring Abbie. Follow along this friendly bee’s adventures: cleaning the hive, monitoring her territory, making honey... with some fun twists and turns!
Next, visit the glass-fronted beehive—where the children can use a magnifying glass to watch real bees at work—then the outdoor viewing area to see the foragers at work in their natural habitat. The highlight of the visit: entering the Giant Hive, a human-scaled immersive museum where you can see the world through a bee’s eyes.
The picnic area, farm animals (including charming alpacas!) and play structures make this outing as fun as it is educational.
For the general public: learn all about bees
Afternoons at the Miellerie Lune de Mielle apiary are dedicated to visitors of all ages who want to learn more about bees and their vital role in our ecosystem. The guided tour for the general public begins with a captivating video that shows daily life in a beehive, the role beekeepers play and some surprising anecdotes. It continues with a stop at the glass-fronted beehive to watch the worker bees, then a visit to the Giant Hive, which reveals all the secrets of the social structure of bees and how they pollinate flowers and make honey.
The experience ends with tasting several honeys with different floral signatures, followed by a stop at the boutique, which abounds with delicious bee products. Don’t hesitate to come on rainy or very hot days; the interpretation centre’s facilities are covered, air-conditioned and accessible to all. It’s a unique outing to do as a couple, with friends or even on your own!
