La Pulperie de Chicoutimi
A driving force in the region’s development
Starting on June 23, 2026, discover the permanent exhibition dedicated to Julien-Édouard-Alfred Dubuc, a key figure in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region’s development. Known as the “father of modern Chicoutimi,” this French-Canadian businessman and politician played a defining role in the region’s industrial boom, especially in the global wood pulp industry.
Through an immersive journey featuring artefacts, documents and projections, learn the fascinating destiny of the so-called “King of Pulp,” whose legacy can still be seen in the area today.
Tracing the steps of a man who left his mark on Quebec
Running from June 5, 2026, to January 31, 2027, the René and Lévesque – How did René become the bigger-than-life Lévesque? exhibition takes an intimate look at this key figure in Quebec’s history.
Produced by the Musée de la civilisation in collaboration with Fondation René-Lévesque, it retraces the major chapters of his life through archives and previously unseen personal items. You will learn about a man who valued freedom, who was first a journalist, then a war correspondent and finally a politician, and whose impressive career and self-assured personality continue to echo today.
The unique universe of an unconventional artist
In the Freehand: Paintings and Drawings by Arthur Villeneuve exhibition, on from June 5 to September 27, 2026, La Pulperie de Chicoutimi showcases the talent of this master of naive art.
In addition to visiting the artist’s actual house inside the museum, with its impressive murals, you can admire a selection of his works from the Jean-Louis Gagnon collection.
