Spring break is the perfect time to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the joys of winter with your family. Whether you’re an avid skier, a keen explorer or someone who’s up for an unusual adventure, Brome-Missisquoi has plenty of options to liven up your week off. Here are three ideas to make the most of it!

Spend the break on the mountain

For many families, spring break is a time to hit the slopes! And you’re in luck: the region’s two mountains, Bromont, montagne d’expériences and Mont SUTTON, have a full program in store for you, with a host of activities such as treasure hunts, karaoke, music and outdoor games to liven up your days on the slopes.

Spending a few days in the region? Take the opportunity to sign your kids up to learn to ski or improve their technique at spring break camps. In Bromont, the program, aimed at 6- to 14-year-olds, is divided into three half-days (March 4 to 6) and is tailored to different skill levels. Mont SUTTON is offering two ski camps: one for 3- to 5-year-olds over three half-days (March 3 to 5), and another for 6- to 13-year-olds, over four full days (February 17 to 20, March 3 to 6 and March 10 to 13). Get your skis ready!

Try a new winter activity

Have you heard of snow scooters? It’s a type of sled with two runners that you stand behind and push forward. Take the opportunity this spring break to discover this Scandinavian tradition with your family on the ice rink at Douglass Beach, in Brome Lake. You could also choose to bring your own skates and go skating!

From the beach, you can also put on snowshoes or cross-country skis and take the Coldbrook Trail to the pretty village of Knowlton, just 2.2 km away. Snow scooter, snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals are available on site on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until March 10 (and possibly during the week on spring break, weather permitting). Check the schedule and ice conditions before you go!

Go dogsledding

Looking for an extraordinary adventure? Head to Aukaneck Aventure, in Bedford, for an activity you’ll want to experience at least once: a dogsled ride! After a peek at the puppies (guaranteed to make you fall in love!), you’ll meet the pack at the kennel, kicking off 45 minutes of fun and discovery in the forest! On the way back, stop by the store stocked with coffee, chocolate and local products.
